Cardiff University Canoe Polo Tournament 2017

CU Polo Team at Cardiff 2017

Half the team got up bright and early on the Saturday morning. The other half decided to sleep in and were the last ones to leave the campsite… Once the whole team was assembled at Taf Bargoed lakes, we watched a couple of matches and then got on the water early to warm up ready for our first match. It got off to a shaky start. Helen managed to bin herself before we even got to the pitch. After finally rescuing her, the team were eager to get started and excited to play some polo!

The Cambridge canoe polo team competed in BUCS over the weekend over the weekend of 16th-17th April, finishing a very respectable 15th out of the 31 teams in the Open division. The team won three and lost three games, but demonstrated considerable growth through the tournament, exemplified by beating a Liverpool team in the final round of matches who had in turn beat us in the opener.

Varsity 2015

Freestyle

Last weekend we had our annual Varsity competition against Oxford University Canoe and Kayak Club. Sadly it was an overall loss for Cambridge. However, every event was closely fought so a massive congratulations to everyone that took part. We did manage to triumph over the dark blues in some events with both the Men's Polo and Men's Freestyle teams recording wins. Final congratulations go to individuals who got top 3 finishes - Shahid Wahab for 2nd in Freestyle and to Alex Ross for 3rd in both Freestyle and Marathon. A full report will be written up soon.
